driving instructions 

From Washington DC and north/east:

• Take I-66 westbound towards Front Royal.
• After Front Royal follow turn at exit 1A on to the I-81 southbound towards Roanoke.
• Take exit 296 at Strasburg (you can’t miss the giant crossed!) and continue westbound on the US-48/VA-55 towards Wardensville. 
• Pass through Wardensville – a great place to stop and pick up a coffee and provisions and onto the scenic freeway (VA-55) over the Lost River Valley.
• Take exit for Baker (WV-259) and turn left onto WV-259 southbound. 
• At the BP Gas Station (the nearest to the Hideaway) turn left onto WV-259 southbound along the Lost River Valley.
• After almost 7 miles you cross the river and enter the small settlement of Lost River, denoted by the white Methodist Church building on the right-hand side. Just past the Lost River General Store (on the left) immediately turn left onto Mill Gap Road.
• In 2 miles turn left onto Settlers Valley Way.
• In 0.4 miles turn left onto Whispering Pines Way (just past the Inn at Lost River).
• Continue for 0.5 miles and the Hideaway will be on the right side – BE CAREFUL TURNING ONTO THE DRIVEWAY, IT IS NARROW AND HAS A DITCH EITHER SIDE. 

From Richmond and south:

• Take I-81 northbound towards Winchester.
• Take exit 257 eastbound towards Mathias.
• Pass through Mathias
• After about 9 miles you enter the small settlement of Lost River, denoted by the Lost River Grill on the right-hand side.
• Turn right onto Mill Gap Road.
• In 2 miles turn left onto Settlers Valley Way.
• In 0.4 miles turn left onto Whispering Pines Way (just past the Inn at Lost River).
• Continue for 0.5 miles and the Hideaway will be on the right side – BE CAREFUL TURNING ONTO THE DRIVEWAY, IT IS NARROW AND HAS A DITCH EITHER SIDE.
